Hayley in the sky with Diamonds

Said Hamlet to Ophelia, I'll draw a sketch of thee. What pencil shall I use? 2B or not 2B?

Keeping out those pesky rabbits

Yes, that's right we want for a drive all the way to the great wall on the Chinese boarder, just to check no rabbits were getting in.

The great wall

Well, not really, we just drove by a set that was used in a movie. It is literally in the middle of no-where, but makes for a good photo opportunity.

Great wall movie set

The past Sunday we went out to the countryside for some horse-riding. Mongolia is slowly turning green and it is awesome to watch. Our Mongolian friends have moved their Ger to their summer camp and the fields are slowly being covered in vegetation and lots of yellow and purple flowers.

You can see the slight green tinge on the mountains and fields

Stopping at the peak of a mountain to take photos (and check the engine)

Mongolian scenery is beginning to unleash its beauty

Happy Birthday Jenny

Friday night Tam, her Mum Katherine, Steph, Gans and I took Jenny out for Indian and some of the crazy Mongolian cake that we love/ hate for her birthday.
Later we joined Petra, also celebrating a birthday for some karaoke at VVIP (very, very important person; this made me feel extra special when I was singing) It was a fantastic night.

I am man, hear me roar!

What is man's obsession with wearing next to nothing and then grappling other men?

Late last month Gans took me to a wrestling match at the circus. I really had no idea what to expect, but I loved every minute of it.

Those in the blue and maroon dels are the 'umpires'

This even was special was it was the first time in 400 years that there had been wrestlers from Inner Mongolia, Russia and Kazakhstan competing all together.

All the wrestlers lined up, read to begin

Pre-show entertainment: traditional dancing

They like to start them young in Mongolia, 'Junior' wrestlers

Give us a hug sweetheart!

Wrestlers from Inner Mongolia

Wrestlers from the different nations

The opening ceremony
What a day! The day begun with 120 hours and after 6 hours of wrestling there was only 2 left who fought it out for the title and prize money. Can you believe I sat though a sporting event that went for 6 hours and didn't get bored? I can't!
I was captivated the whole day. There was traditional and singing in between the rounds, speeches from famous people and a best dressed award announcement. The actual wrestling games themselves are interesting to watch. There is plenty of theatrics and traditional move that make for interesting watching!
So, now all I have to do is learn a few of those moves!

Vegetarian Goodness

There are some great places to eat in UB and Ananda's is one of them. Ananda's is a vegetarian restaurant run by the same people who run the Lotus Children's Centre (an orphanage in the ger dirtict.) Food is tasty, wholesome and cheap. Most time we go we ask for the mixed plate, which as the name suggests is a bit of everything they have prepared that day. 5/5
Ananda's also holds yoga classess. You can also take your shoes off and eat in the back room that has cushions and low tables.
